In what might be the biggest ski-related news of the year, Vail Resorts has acquired Utah’s Park City Ski Resort for $182.5 million. Bigger news might be on the way, too — the company expects to connect nearby Canyons Resort to Park City, creating the largest single ski resort in the U.S.

The acquisition concludes three years of litigation between Vail Resorts and Powdr, the former owner of Park City Mountain Resort.

Vail Resorts has also announced it’s extending the popular Epic Pass to Park City Ski Resort. The Epic Pass allows visitors to ski and snowboard on 22 mountains, including Breckenridge, North Star and Beaver Creek.

The Epic Pass is $749 for adults and $389 for children ages 5 to 12 until Oct. 12; after that, rates will increase.
