Vail Ski Area has been approved to begin the building of a summer activity development, which will feature a mountain coaster, zip lines, and more trails.

The new development — called Epic Discovery — will encourage families to “learn through play,” also offering experiential centers with interactive activities, all of which will focus on wildlife, forest health and geography of the surrounding area.

Vail‘s Epic Discovery is expected to open in 2016. The program has already launched at Breckenridge and Heavenly Mountain Resorts.

What to Expect

In these guided tours, visitors will enjoy a wide array of zip lines and aerial bridges, plus breathtaking views along the way. Tours will last approximately three hours.

An alpine slide, Forest Flyer will weave down the mountain on raised rails.

Game Creek Deck and Lookout Tower
Visitors will climb to the top of this tower, where they’ll be rewarded with amazing, panoramic views of the surrounding forests, wildflowers, and even wildlife.
