It may feel like an oven outside but winter is surely coming and the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center near Washington, D.C., is already inviting guests to book now for Christmas on the Potomac.

The resort’s annual event brings nearly 500,000 visitors each year, and this season will be the Gaylord’s eighth annual ICE! attraction. The interactive walk-through ICE! attraction’s new theme will celebrate the 45th anniversary of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” with more than two million pounds of ice sculpted into larger-than-life settings and characters, as well as two-story ice slide. Guests can witness firsthand how the ice sculptures are created in the Frostbite Factory.

ICE! opens daily November 21 through January 3. Early-bird rates for non-peak dates are $23 for ages 12 and older and $15 for children ages 3 to 11 through October 1. After October 1, rates climb to $28 and $20, respectively. Peak dates will be $35 and $28.

Also part of the holiday extravaganza is the Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt, a new Gingerbread Decorating Corner, an indoor train ride, photos with Santa, indoor snowfall, two million twinkling lights, and more. Holiday ICE! is Nice packages are now available at the Gaylord National Resort for one-night accommodations and two tickets to ICE! starting at $219 for a family of four. Christmas on the Potomac packages also include one souvenir ICE! photo and $100 resort credit with rates beginning at $279.
