Overview

Kids will love the many fun activities available at this quiet lakefront B&B. They can paddle a canoe, skip rocks, explore a beaver’s dam, or visit a nearby sled dog kennel. Each room of the B&B is ideal for a small family, with queen and twin beds, private bathroom, satellite TV, and large windows looking out on the forest or lake. All guests have access to a large gathering room outfitted with a pool table, TV/DVD, books, board games and an assortment of area maps. It’s also where a hearty free breakfast, with blueberry pancakes and reindeer sausage, is served each morning.

North Country B&B is located on the shore of tranquil Scotty Lake, just a few miles off the Parks Highway two hours north of Anchorage. It’s a remote, peaceful setting within sight of Denali and several glaciers. The water and forest around the B&B attracts a good number of bears, moose, caribou and birds of all kinds. There are restaurants, shops and attractions in the nearby town of Talkeetna, which is 30 minutes away. Your hosts will be happy to set you up with local fishing and hunting guides, flightseeing charters and other companies that will pick you up at your B&B. Or you can drive into Talkeetna for even more options. Whether you just want to kick back and relax in a paddle boat on the lake, or raft down the mighty Sunitsa River, the North Country B&B is an ideal place to spend part of your Alaska family vacation.

Great location right on the lake in the woods. Owner was nice, room was clean and nice area to play pool. Place is used more for hunting and fishing. Stayed for one night after being in Denali for a couple of nights.

INCREDIBLE! JUST WOW!

We had the distinct pleasure of staying at this B&B. We loved every minute of our stay. The room was very clean and peaceful. The whole property had amazing views of the Alaskan range, Denali in particular. We even got to see the Northern Lights! They were shimmering over the lake, and I swear it was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had. The breakfast was absolutely yummy - pancakes made from some special recipe. Jeff and Janet were superb hosts, and having lived in Alaska for so many years they were excellent at helping us with ideas of things to do throughout the region. We were made to feel right at home, and loved our stay. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
