Overview

Cabins, WV

Set in the rolling mountains of West Virginia, North Fork Mountain Inn offers a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life. The hotel’s bed and breakfast atmosphere is coupled with a rustic cabin feel. In fact, guests can opt to stay in a private, one-bedroom cabin on the premises. Pets are also welcome at the cabin for a nightly fee. Typically, rooms feature gas fireplaces, oversized showers and mountain views. Suites also present living rooms with upgraded amenities like flat-screen televisions, kitchenettes with refrigerators, microwaves and coffeemakers.

Innkeepers Ed and Carol Fisher are more than accommodating, offering personal attention to guests. Ed, also a gourmet chef, cooks up the most wonderful breakfasts, picnic lunches and dinners.

Guests can sail or scuba dive in Mt. Storm Lake — a thermal-heated lake set at 3,244-foot altitude. Windsurfing is another popular pastime at North Fork. Depending on what time you visit, you may be able to make one of the hotel’s events that take place about twice a month. Events include cooking or massage classes, festivals, bird-watching and holiday celebrations.

Charming Getaway

by F8495KWtomk

Tucked away and far from the crowds, yet close to attractions (Seneca Caverns, Seneca Rocks, Smoke Hole Caverns, Spruce Knob and Blackwater Falls). Rustic Inn is as comfortable as it is charming. Hosts were very friendly and could not have been more gracious in answering our questions. We took a two mile hike up to the ridge above the Inn thanks to a well marked gentle trail.

Warm service great views!

We stayed a few days before heading to DC and really enjoyed our time on the property. Ed and Carol, the owners, truly have the gift of hospitality. Ed took the time to ask if there's any dietary restrictions we have, prior to cooking gourmet meals. The meals were excellent, and seconds were even offered when we were hungry. Carol is also courteous and friendly, and truly wanted to make sure the meals were to our liking.

Ed is a wine somollier (like an MBA in wine mastery), so he assisted in pairing the best tasting wine with each meal, for satisfying complimentary flavors.

The suite was spacious, with vaulted timber ceilings, king size bed on the main floor, and a step-up garden tub with jets. Beautiful wood walls, floors, ceilings, beams. I stepped out of the cabin at night, to hear dear walking on the dry crunchy leave all around the cabin.

I'd encourage you to use the robe provided, and towels, and sit in the hot tub under the stars. The stars are plentiful, and the milky way was as clear as I've seen outside of Colorado.

The leaves, and view of smoke hole, were fantastic.

A great stay overall.

Tip: don't give up on your drive to the Inn. The winding mountain roads make it seem further away than it is. Rather, enjoy driving through the tree tunnels along the way.
