The Omni Royal Orleans have a total of 345 rooms. All rooms have mini-bars, but they can be emptied if you'd rather use them to store your own snacks and drinks -- just ask. Guestrooms also include coffeemakers, and many offer shower-in-tub combos in bathrooms.

Cribs (free) and rollaway beds ($30 per night) are available upon request. Connecting units are also available and usually include a suite and guestroom with two double beds.

Premier Rooms
These rooms span 260 square feet and come with one king or two queen beds and views of the French Quarter. You can also select a Premier Room with a Jacuzzi (same size) or a Premier Room with a Balcony (290 square feet).

Petite Suites
If you're looking for more space, consider a Petite Suite, which features a king bed (not private) and a living space with a sleeper sofa. It spans 445 square feet.

Jacuzzi Suites
These suites are similar to the Petite Suites in configuration, except they also include two-person Jacuzzi tubs.

One-Bedroom Suites
These 700-square-foot suites feature one bedroom with a king bed and a living area with a sleeper sofa, separated by doors for privacy. You can also elect to stay in a One-Bedroom Suite with Balcony that overlooks Royal or St. Louis streets. Omni Royal Orleans is the only hotel on Royal with balconies, so take advantage of this opportunity if you can!

Pontchartrain Suite
This suite is also 700 square feet and features a separate bedroom with a king bed and a grand living space with a king-size sleeper sofa; it has two full bathrooms. Its best feature is a wrap-around balcony on the corner of St. Louis and Royal streets.

Royal Suite
This is a home away from home, with 1,140 square feet of space. It has a large living area with two sofas (including a sofa bed), a dining area with room for six, and a beautiful, private bedroom with a king bed. You can sleep four to five guests in this room, or it can be expanded to become a two-bedroom suite.

Penthouse Suite
At 1,150 square feet, this is the hotel's largest room; it's also the one with the best views, overlooking the famed French Quarter and Mississippi River. It has just one bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area, but can be connected to other rooms to create a two- or three-bedroom suite.

Reviews

Our second stay

by Frankee11

This is a great hotel in a very convenient location in the French Quarter. It is relatively quiet as well since none of the hotel borders on Bourbon St; we did not hear very much street noise even with a street view room (aside from the raucous and rude wedding party on Saturday night). The staff is for the most part very accommodating, and there was an excellent songstress in the lobby lounge while we were there. Room service food is very good and the breakfast menu has pretty good variety. Two drawbacks: rooms are small, as is the case for most older venues in New Orleans. Worth it to spring for a room that is not the smallest unless you have very little luggage or on a very tight budget. Second thing: I had gel ice packs that I need for medical reasons, and gave them to the staff to keep in the kitchen's freezer. No freezer in the mini bar fridges. The first time I asked for them they had trouble finding them and then found they'd been put in a fridge, not a freezer. The second time after extensive searching by the staff and my husband, they were just plain gone. I was angry, but, someone went out and bought me two new ones right away, which was deeply appreciated. (They were larger than the originals, so my luggage got searched and my bag was delayed and sent to Houston and I didn't get it till the next day, so, that also happened.) But as I say, they did make it right as quickly as possible. In the scheme of things, it's a smallish travel hassle. Lovely hotel overall. Would likely stay there again.

Great location, excellent guest services

by WunderlustKing

We normally stay at big hotels on Canal, but decided to try FQ hotel this time, especially with the deal we got. The room seems to have been cleaned/checked twice a day, the pool outdoor patio and observation deck was an excellent place to hang out, too bad we didn't get to because of the cold weather. I would definitely come back there again, especially in the warmer months.

The piece de resistance is, without the a doubt, the rooftop swimming pool -- especially refreshing for families on a hot summer day. The pool is located next to La Riviera Poolside Bar, where you can order light bites and frozen treats.

Omni Sensational Kids

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi isn't automatically free at the hotel, but you can sign up for the Select Guest Program (free) and receive complimentary access. Members receive other perks, as well, including complimentary coffee delivery (on their second stay).

Pets
The Omni Royal Orleans (and all Omni Hotels) welcomes pets that weigh less than 25 pounds. Only one pet is permitted per room, and a non-refundable fee of $50 is required.

Gift Shop
The onsite gift shop sells snacks, cold beverages, coffee (from Community Coffee, a local coffee chain), toiletries and souvenirs.

The Art of Smart Timing
There isn't a bad time to visit New Orleans, but the Crescent City is busiest -- of course -- during Mardi Gras, along with the months that follow it until June or so. It's also quite busy in the fall, mainly in October in November. The best time to visit in terms of fewer crowds and lower hotel rates is actually the summer!

If visiting during the holidays, your kids will enjoy special events such as visits with Santa and Easter egg hunts.

Getting There
The Omni Royal Orleans/French Quarter is about 30 minutes from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. You can easily utilize the Airport Shuttle ($20 per person, one way), but a taxi or Uber may be less expensive.

Valet parking is available for those bringing cars; it is $40 per day, plus a tax of 13.25 percent.

Getting Around
The hotel is centrally located in the French Quarter, just steps from Jackson Square and most areas of interest. If you plan to visit other areas of the city, such as the River Walk or Garden District (famous for grand homes), use the streetcars ($1.25 one way; free for kids under 2).

For Mom and Dad
Head to Touche, the hotel's cozy bar, for an adults-only night. Touche offers small plates, from artisan cheese plates to burgers, along with refreshing drinks -- try the Botanical Martini. It's open 11 a.m. to midnight, Sunday to Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

While the hotel doesn't offer a full-service spa, services can be arranged through a third-party vendor.
