Lovely Hotel

by Sue_sue77

Really great with the location and beautiful hotel, great staff and really up market.

Points not so great was the phone communication, parking information and also the hairs in the room.
Better selection at breakfast it was mid range hotel rather than up market.

I will never take notice of tripadvisor reviews again

I don't know where the trip advisor reviewers were staying but certainly not in the room they gave us.I was in London on business a.m. so decide to stay on and take the wife to a show in the evening, we chose "Wicked" (that's another story) This hotel was then chosen for its location(just down the road from the Apollo) and although more than we wanted to pay just for the one night, the reviews on Trip adviser suggested it was a very good hotel!.......Not so. On looking on their web page the prices offered were very confusing so I rang their booking line I was then offered a "Deal" which appeared to be approx £10-15 cheaper than the on line rate with a room upgrade from standard Queen room to Superior King and included breakfast and a voucher worth £25 for use in their restaurant. The room we were given was room 702 on the side of the hotel over looking building work. This didn't particularly bother us as we were only there for the one night and would be out most of the time. However for the price we paid and with a supposedly upgrade the room fell far below expectations. It was very dingy,(one small window in the room, none in the bathroom)outdated and the bathroom was not very clean, the basin had no working plug (had to block with paper to shave) had to ask for shower jel, there was a "Nexpresso" in the room but no pods, tweo cups one dirty the other with a large crack in it (I took a photo but cant post here)the usb ports didn't work, the TV menu didn't work, there was a mini bar but switched off and empty, the wardrobe had strange handles on it which were very difficult to open( it did have a safe, no complaints there)the whole room was very tired looking. The restaurant was very good both the food and service couldn't fault, expensive but to be expected in London I guess. The bar area was pretty average as was the reception area although we had good service there. I don't normally feel the need to write reviews but was so disappointed with this hotel and the fact that it has now reinforced the opinions of many that trip advisor reviews are not to be relied on.
