A true jewel on the road to be found in Newcastle

by grayowl52

We were surprised to find the stay here a true unbelievable welcome stay. We had booked the reservation while traveling through WY. About 14 miles out of town...BAMM..hit a deer. airbags blew...bad time...car not drive-able. The we met Rachel at the Pines Country Inn. She welcomed us with true openness. The room she had saved for us was very comforting & clean. She went beyond what most hosts would go. Yes the place is dated like the 1960's but every room is updated & clean. Value for the room & service is without a doubt a bargin.

A delightful return to the 1960s!

We spent one night here while road-tripping through Wyoming and the west. Since we prefer historic places over chains, the Pines looked like just the place, and we were not disappointed. This is a small motel, built during and in exactly the style of the mid 1950s. Rachel, who runs the establishment with her husband, even showed us a post card of the motel from about 1960. The trees and garden setting has changed (a nice upgrade!), but the building is the same. We were very pleased with our room, which took my wife and I back to our childhood travels. But while the room design had all the charm of the earlier era, it has been well refurbished with new windows, bathroom upgrades, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, cable TV, A/C, and, of course, WiFy. At well under a hundred bucks, the Pines is both a treat and a bargain. We recommend without reservation.
