Overview

A charming oceanfront hotel just minutes from Pismo Beach, Pismo Lighthouse Suites is a completely renovated and modern hotel with the feel of an oversized coastal cottage. Once a larger motel, when Martin Resorts took over the property and rejuvenated it, it dropped its room count to just 70 rooms in order to expand them and make them more suitable for large families. The Central Coast hotel is now entirely two-room, two-bath suites with free Wi-Fi, breakfast and parking for guests, as well as a family play area with games and fun. Of course, the hotel is steps from the Pacific Ocean beaches, as well, making the hotel a perfect place for families who are getting away for a weekend or a week.

The very good rating for is directed toward the accommodations and professionalism of Kristina. I spend 18 nights each month staying at hotels for my job so I consider my self very versed in hotel life.

Super Place to Stay

by bgambero64

Wonderful place to stay. Super clean and quiet. Only drawback, breakfast food was not kept hot. Food was good, just needed to be hotter. Good selection. Doesn't change our decision to continue staying. Office staff was very accommodating and even got us in earlier than regular check in time. We will definitely be back!!!

Family Activities

Play Deck
The Play Deck at the hotel is a sun-filled terrace with hammocks, a giant chess board, badminton, Ping Pong, other games, and space for young ones to safely play. Removed from the outdoor swimming pool that overlooks the ocean, the Play Deck is centrally located at the hotel.

Walking Paths
Walking paths along the cliffs of the coastline are steps away from the hotel, which rests upon the cliffs. Nearby hiking trails include Shell Beach Bluff and Ontario Ridge Trail, the Johnson Ranch Loop and Pismo Preserve. Biking is also available along the coastline, as well as in the mountains. A railroad bike trail runs right through San Luis Obispo.

Library
The hotel also has a Little Free Library to borrow and/or leave a book for other guests to enjoy during a visit.

Family Dining

Pismo Lighthouse Suites offers daily complimentary continental breakfast with hot and cold breakfast items. Fresh-baked cookies, tea and coffee are available in the hotel's lobby.

A new restaurant is opening adjacent to the hotel in 2017, which will provide all-day dining. The hotel is working with the restaurant to provide deals and services to its guests.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
The property features coin-operated, self-service laundry facilities for guests to use.

The hotel is pet-friendly and allows for up to two dogs per room at an additional nightly fee that is non-refundable. Pet-friendly rooms come with private walkout terraces so guests may walk their dogs near their rooms.

The resort is one of the few in the area that does not charge a daily resort fee and provides free Wi-Fi, parking and breakfast without any charge.

The Art of Smart Timing
With the Central California Coast's steady Mediterranean-like weather, San Luis Obispo County is a popular year-round destination. Families most often visit the area in the summer months, when they can stay longer and enjoy the warmer days, making fall through spring a good time to visit for special deals.

Getting There
The resort is minutes from Highway 101 and centrally located between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Fly into either city's international airports and the drive will take about 3.5 hours. Amtrak also will get you to the area, or fly into the small San Luis Obispo county airport, which is located just 10 minutes away from the property.

For Mom and Dad
The property does not feature a spa but does partner with a nearby spa to provide in-suite treatments or treatments in the hotel's one available quiet spa room. Treatments include hand and foot treatments, massages, body treatments and facials.
