Avoid this disorganized place.

We arrived to find our condo occupied by other guests! It took a while to figure this out after initially blaming the problem on the door keys. This is not what you want after a long trip at what 3:20 in your home time zone.

Condo in Great Location

by VickyES

We stayed for 9 nights at the Plantation Hale in Kapaa in Suite D-2. The location is perfect for traveling around the Island. Very close to great restaurants, grocery stores and a Long's Drug Store. Coconut Marketplace is right next door.

Pros:
Condo's are so much better than hotel rooms. Our room had a living room with pull out couch (did not use). 2 double beds in separate bedroom that were very comfortable with lots of pillows. 1 restroom with lots of storage space and a full kitchen with everything we needed (not that we cooked). We had a full sized fridge, stove, blender, microwave, coffee maker, etc. There were also 2 TV sets.

Our Lanai was very long with 2 chairs and a small table. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and well maintained.

Wifi - Excellent. It was important to us and did not disappoint.

Safe - In the room and opened with a key.

Front Desk/customer service - Excellent. Thanks Phil for outstanding service.

Maintenance - we had a maintenance issue and they were there within 15 minutes.

Security - Friendly and visible.

AC - adequate for our room. It is one unit that has a vent into the bedroom but cooled off both rooms and there were also ceiling fans.

Shower - We called it a power wash. So great.

Amenities - coffee every day, coconut lime lotion and soap, combined shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, clock radio and lots of outlets.

Parking - Plentiful.

Rooms - Very nicely decorated in tropical decor. Loved it.

Housekeeping - Excellent.

Washer/dryer - at the end of the Hall in our building. Came in handy when we wanted to dry our suits.

Beach towels -They hand you a beach towel when you check in and you can exchange it each day for a dry one. Loved that service.

CONS:
The condo's all have a closet in the bedroom and a nice closet and shelves in the entry way. We loved that when we stayed in the past. This time, when we entered our condo we found the closet in the entry way was locked with very tacky black zip-ties and tacky hand printed sticky labels that said "owners" on it. We were very disappointed. I would recommend staying away from D2 if possible. My sister's condo (D8) had use of the second closet. I was envious and annoyed.

Closets - not enough hangers. We bought some at Walmart. Hopefully, they will leave those in the closet for the next guests.

Storage - not enough storage space because of the owners cabinet.

Reservations - We reserved through Pleasant Holidays. I emailed a few months out and requested our 2 two rooms to be in the same building and downstairs. I received an email back from Kuu that told me we were right next door to each other. We were so excited. When we arrived, we were booked into 2 rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Phil was able to get us both downstairs but on separate sides of the building and down 2 rooms. We were looking forward to having Lanai's next to each other but that didn't happen. Wouldn't have minded so much if Kuu hadn't told me it was a done deal.

Pool/Spa - The pool was quite nice but the spa pool was barely warm. We only tried it one time.

Fence/construction - they had started construction and built a long fence in front of the hotel that now blocks the view. The construction fell through but the fence is still up. There is a dirt road down to the beach but there is a homeless camp at the end of the fence which is a bit daunting. We walked down to watch the sunrise and did not feel safe. The beach is beautiful but not for swimming. Too rough.

The pros definitely out weighed the cons. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
