Overview

As a Bed & Breakfast, The Red Coach Inn largely caters to couples and regularly hosts wedding receptions and honeymoons, with packages offered for both occasions. It also serves champagne, cheese and fruit to guests — another romantic touch. This doesn’t mean you can’t bring the kids though. In fact, this hotel is quite family-friendly.

Opened in 1923, The Red Coach Inn is an English Tudor and closely resembles something you’d see across the pond — not 500 yards from Niagara Falls. The historic hotel is a refreshing choice amongst the area’s chain hotels and restaurants (not that there’s anything wrong with those).

The hotel offers just 35 accommodations, each decorated and designed slightly different from the next. Many of them cater to families, with space for five to seven guests, plus full kitchens. Other perks include free parking and complimentary breakfast at the hotel’s equally popular restaurant, plus the option to combine accommodations and attraction tickets in packages.

While some rooms are slightly dated, they offer modern conveniences, such as mini-fridges, coffeemakers and free Wi-Fi. The hotel doesn't provide rollaway beds or cribs, but encourages guests to rent gear from an outside vendor; hotel staff are happy to set up any equipment.

Great Night Out

by lauralR1403ON

My husband and I met our son and his wife in Niagara Falls for a four day long weekend vacation. They were celebrating their first anniversary and we wanted to take them somewhere special. Our hotel recommended The Red Coach Inn and it did not disappoint. Dawn, our waitress, was very friendly and even suggested a wonderful wine substitute when she realized that the one we had ordered was not available that night. The food and atmosphere were great. This is a dining experience that is worth the trip.

Family Activities

Kids won't find anything to do onsite, but there's plenty to do nearby -- especially with a location just 500 yards from Niagara Falls State Park. Families can easily walk to Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds, and the Rainbow Bridge to Canada is within easy walking distance, too.

Family Dining

The Red Coach Inn Restaurant
The Red Coach Inn serves complimentary breakfast to all guests in the restaurant; that means guests can order anything from pancakes to eggs benedict -- free of charge. Lunch is also served and includes comfort food, such as meatloaf, burgers and Shepard's Pie, while dinner delivers similar options, plus steaks and seafood.

The restaurant is open to both hotel guests and the general public. Hours vary, though it's typically open 7:30 a.m. to sometime between 9 and 10:30 p.m. (depending on the season). Both indoor and outdoor seating are available.

Room Service
While room service can't be guaranteed, the hotel is happy to assist those who aren't able to dine at the Red Coach Inn Restaurant -- especially families.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Free Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

Parking
Parking is provided free of charge, and each guest/family gets a parking space outside their room for added convenience.

Packages
The hotel has a Niagara Discovery Pass Package, which combines accommodations with tickets to local attractions. It's available year-round.

The Art of Smart Timing
The hotel is busiest during the summer months, Memorial Day to Labor Day -- the easiest time for families and other travelers to make the trip to Niagara Falls. The months of September and October shouldn't be overlooked though, since crowds and rates lessen, and many attractions are still open. There's also a case for visiting Niagara Falls in the winter, as the water has frozen over in the past few years, creating a unique sight and experience for tourists.

Getting There
The Red Coach Inn is approximately 30 minutes from Buffalo Niagara International Airport, which is serviced by most major airlines. The drive is relatively easy (just a few main roads), and includes a $1 toll.

Getting Around
While the Red Coach Inn is just steps from Niagara Falls, it's best to have a car. You'll definitely want to cross Rainbow Bridge to Canada when you're this close -- just remember to bring your passports!

For Mom and Dad
The Red Coach Inn Restaurant is just as romantic as it is family-friendly, and is perfect for a date. If you're interested in leaving the hotel, look no further than the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute. You can take a cooking class or reserve a memorable meal, served by the school's talented chefs.
