We greatly anticipated our four day visit to Big Sky and Yellowstone. We were greatly disappointed in our experience at this Residence Inn. It is a beautiful new hotel, but is understaffed and poorly managed. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon shortly before 4 and were told that our room wasn't available. There was almost no one at the hotel--no more than 5 cars in the parking lot and the lobby was empty. The desk clerk was indecisive and lacked perception on what we really wanted (just a room with a tub/shower combo). After nearly a half hour the manager got involved and she was very helpful in getting us into a room. However, it wasn't ready until after 5. When we finally got to our room we noticed that rooms were still be cleaned--and that continued until nearly 8 pm. Over our 4 days there we concluded they are greatly understaffed--perhaps indicative of the entire Big Sky area. Our other major disappointment was breakfast. They were continually out of food and also understaffed. On a couple of occasions I saw the front desk clerk leave her post to go make coffee. One kitchen person seemed very frustrated and overwhelmed. We enjoyed the area, but we will not be returning to this Residence Inn. I'm sorry I have to write this, and hopefully the situation can be rectified by the owners and by Marriott soon.
This new hotel is well executed. The lobby has a Western feel
The hotel rooms are more spacious and comfortable. The room decorating and finishes are consistent with Marriott's new corporate renovation of older hotels,
