Good service for a Residence Inn

by dxbgabbh

As expected breakfast was simple but good. Hotel staff was pretty friendly and helpful.
Something to improve: beach service included only the chairs but it is quite hard to avoid the umbrella for $15.

Horrible service and rude management

by Hossein M

I planned and booked 2 rooms almost two month in advance for a bachelors party. We were 5 guys coming to this Hotel for our first night before we head to Key West. 2 days before our arrival I called the Hotel and confirmed again my two rooms and added two of my guests to one of the room so they can check in before I arrive. As i know how Hotels operate I asked for the Front desk's email so I can email them the names as well just to be safe. On the day of arrival and right before my plane was about to take off one of my guests who i added his name to check in earlier called me and said there is no name and he needs to wait till i get there!!! (mind you I called and emailed two days earlier exactly to avoid this situation) Anyway...
I arrive with the bachelor guy around 8:30 PM to the Hotel and the guy at the desk welcomes us first and talks about comp upgrade for the bachelors guy. next thing you know he makes the phone call with this manager cause he didn't know the exact rate code he had to do to upgrade us and comes back and says oh we don't have rooms and need to walk you to a different Hotel!!!! (from upgrade to not having a room) we had breakfast included here but he tells us that his manager doesn't want to pay for our breakfast in the hotel which is a worn out crappy courtyard 2 miles away under constructions (half of their amenities wasn't working) we had an event to attend that night which we were forced to cancel because of now being put in two different hotels. Not only did they ruined our party but we also missed our event because of this people and they were not even a bit apologetic about any part of this. Came in the morning and asked to speak to their GM Doris Diaz. She acted as if they didn't do anything wrong!!! lady, who trained you? First of all you dropped the ball by overselling the hotel clearly you don't really have much clue about your business volume!! Second of all, now that you made this mistake and ruined someone's party who contacted and told you about this in advance don't act as if you are by the book! Try to make this up.
after coming back home I checked my credit card and guess what? they charged me for the room they didn't have for me!! of course i disputed the charge immediately with my credit card company but again I have to spend an hour on the phone for something which shouldn't happen in first place.
In a word dear reader: this Hotel sells your room even when you think you have a guaranteed reservation, the hotel's management is irresponsible and incompetent for their roles. FD staff not well trained and not consistent. Make sure you call and confirm your requests a few times and get their names so you can call them out later. By far the worst experience I have had with any Marriott property.
