First time Residence Inn stay

by DavidRandolph01

I spent five nights at this hotel during the week of September 15th and have several concerns. First, on the second day of my stay I came home from work to find my room door was left open (ajar) after cleaning. On the third day of my stay, housecleaning did not provide a shower mat, hand towel or washcloth. Third, I found the breakfast bar to be marginal and the staff inadequate (they were helpful and polite but there were not enough of them). The kitchen sometimes ran out of clean plates and food. It's also off putting to have to drink from paper cups and eat with plastic utensils.

"Skimpy"....Housekeeping Needs Help

by Optoko

This hotel is a Marriott Residence Inn Hotel: substantial and comfortable; includes breakfast. You have to ask for a lot of amenities that are standard at most hotels.

Location:
This hotel is located off Jamboree Rd. near the 405 San Diego Freeway. There are numerous stores, restaurants, and shopping centers within a 15 min. drive.
Note: traffic during busy hours can add significant time for travel.

Accommodations:
The room was large and spacious, roomy enough for a king size bed, sofabed, small writing desk, and small table with two chairs. The room was comfortable.
There is a flat screen TV (about 42”).
The bed was firm and provided a relaxing sleep.

The unit has a small kitchen with small cooktop and microwave, full size dishwasher
and full size refrigerator. There is the usual complement of cooking and eating utensils,
coffee pot, etc.

Note: The bathroom was adequate but there was hair in the bathtub….which is totally unacceptable and makes the entire place feel unclean.

There is a single sink with ample counter space; and shower was adequate.

Amenities:
As part of Marriott’s “green” approach, dispenser bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are now mounted on the wall in the shower. They seem to be of good quality and we are OK with this. However, you have to ask for hand or body lotion.

Also, there is NO safe. The office in the lobby has a safe, but it becomes a hassle if you want to lock up small items such as electronic items and jewelry.

The other odd thing is that they do not furnish suitcase stands in the unit…..you have to ask for it. Putting suitcases on the floor, or on a table or bed, each time is convenient?

Wifi is included and worked effectively.

As usual, breakfast is included and was substantial.
Parking was complimentary (a big deal these days at most Marriott properties).

Housekeeping:
They come in daily to replenish soiled towels…but they did not replace them with the same number or types. We had to call for a bath mat and an additional hand towel….and they brought up two face towels…..a communication problem?
And the hair in the tub issue has already tarnished this department.

Check in and check out:
Marriott encourages on line check-in, which I used…..otherwise it seemed simple and quick. Check out was equally simple.

Staff:
The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Overall, this hotel is adequate…..but having to request several things that I would normally receive at other hotels (including Residence Inns) is a bit annoying. There are too many other places to stay in this area than to have to select this one.
