Family Fun in the Snow at North Lake Tahoe, CA
We had a great time sledding at North Lake Tahoe. Our children are 3years old, and 11months old. We stayed at the Resort at Squaw Creek.

The Room
We spent the weekend in a Deluxe room with 2 queen beds. The room was nice. The beds were ... more comfortable. There was a mini bar area with a small refrigerator. The refrigerator could be used for our personal items; no key needed to open it, etc.

We asked for a crib for our 11month old. It was suppose to be in the room when we arrived, but was not. We had to call to guest services to have it brought up. But the staff was very prompt. It was brought to our room in a timely manner. Also, it was an actual crib; not a play pen. We have stayed at other hotels and requested a crib and got something I would call a play pen; not the same as a crib. The room was warm, even on the floor. I mention this because of our baby in the crib who is closer to the floor. We've stayed at other hotels in Lake Tahoe where the floor was cold, despite being on an upper floor. The baby had to sleep in the bed in those hotels which made the crib useless.

The service to the room was excellent. We had our luggage brought to the room, and it arrived promptly. We needed extra towels and they were brought to the room quickly. All the staff was nice, polite, and helpful. Upon leaving we had our luggage brought down to our car. The staff member came to our room quickly, loaded our luggage on the bellman cart, and helped us load our luggage in our vehicle.

The Resort
The resort is very nice and provides most everything you'd want; no need to leave. There are several restaurants on the property. We ate breakfast in the main restaurant. We ate the buffet. The food was good, not fantastic. But the price was reasonable. Many hotels and resorts charge high prices in their restaurants. This was not the case. This is even better because the nearest town and restaurant is 10-15 minutes drive from the resort.

We had fun sledding and playing in the snow. My son made his first snow man on this trip. There is skiing, ice skating, and snow tubing at the resort. One of the days we went sledding at a designated sledding hill off the resort to explore the area. We also ate dinner in Tahoe City. So, there are some things to do and explore off the resort. However you do not really need to leave the resort if you don't want to. There are shops, restaurants, activities, and a convenience store. The convenience store prices are typical hotel prices. Our son (3yr old) enjoyed the ice skating despite falling down. They provided a helmet for him as well, which was nice. There was an area off of the family friendly pub restaurant that had a fire pit on the balcony. This is where the ingredients for smores can be gotten (graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate) for making smores in the fire. There are many other amenities (year round heated pool, whirlpools, spa, saunas, steam rooms, boutique, and fitness center). We spent our time with our children and activities they enjoyed, so did not use these other amenities.

Overall this is a quality resort and hotel. I'd recommend staying here.
