Curly Tails Restaurant & Bar

One of Abaco’s best restaurants, it takes a step away from traditional Bahamian cuisine while keeping one foot firmly planted. In addition to the ubiquitous fried chicken and conch fritters, it excites the taste buds with creative visions such as sweet plantain crusted grouper with papaya salsa, johnnycake stuffed chicken, and lemon and goat pepper braised mahi with sweet potato polenta. Don’t pass up on the fig and prosciutto salad for first course.

Curly Tails, named for the local salamander-sized lizards with their coiled rear ends, also serves lunch daily and weekend brunch, with selections equally varied as the dinner menu: stew conch, smoked salmon and avocado wrap, and jerk chicken pizza.

A children’s menu includes grouper fingers and grilled cheese sandwich. Eat outdoors harborside under the soft glow of round buoy-like oil lamps or in the linen-set dining room.
