Visitors looking to try the Springfield foodie staple called a Horseshoe, should try one at D’arcy’s. A horseshoe (or ponyshoe for those with eyes not as big as their stomachs) is similar to an open-faced sandwich. Diners can choose from a variety of meats or veggies like a hamburger patty, chicken, Italian sausage, turkey or corn beef, which sits on top of Texas Toast and is then piled high with French fries topped with housemade cheese sauce. You eat it with a knife and fork and some skip the bread on the bottom, but any way you order a Horseshoe — the shoe always fits!
D’arcy’s also features lots of authentic Irish fare, pizza and other sandwiches.
The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
