Deaverdura

Restaurant

This tiny restaurant is located on the top of a hilly cobblestone street in Old San Juan, set away from the main hustle and bustle, but it is absolutely worth it. There is no printed menu, just a host/waitress reciting what’s available from the kitchen, with an emphasis on freshly prepared local cuisine, which could include chicken, sausages, traditional fritters, root vegetables, rice and beans and a number of other expertly prepared dishes. Do not miss the cilantro rice!

The restaurant has a limited bar, but they do offer cocktails and a variety of fresh tropical fruit juices, as well as the famous coco frio-a large coconut hacked open and served with a straw. The staff members are also happy to provide children with games like Jenga and peg jump.

Hours

Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; closed Sunday.
