Dobbin House Tavern

89 Steinwehr Ave., Gettysburg, 17325, PA

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Dobbin House Tavern has been open since 1776. The candlelit restaurant is best for families with older children, though the 10-and-under set is welcomed with a separate, sophisticated menu (think steak and pasta; you won’t find chicken fingers here). Each child’s platter comes with milk, lemonade or iced tea and dessert. High chairs are available, and reservations are strongly recommended, even for lunch.

Dobbin House Tavern extends to a bakery and gift shop, as well as Springhouse Tavern, Gettysburg Bed and Breakfast and Abigail Adams Ballroom. You’ll also find a former hideout from the Underground Railroad. Guided tours aren’t publicly offered, but you might be able to get one if you request it of the owner.
