While merendero means picnic, this restaurant with beautiful sea views is sleeker than other establishments on the beach. El Merendero de Antonio Martin has a terrace, lounge and tapas area, all stylishly decorated, with well-presented food and attentive service.
Relish classic Spanish dishes and traditional Andalucian specialties, such as gazpacho or fried fish. Modern twists make dishes interesting, like the fideua, which is similar to paella but with squid ink pasta crowned by a succulent prawn. The sausage tartar and adobo, vinegar-marinated fried fish, are fantastic. A children’s menu and high chairs are available. Kids can play in the sand outside while giant siesta smiles spread across parents’ faces.
Open Monday through Sunday in the afternoons (hours vary per season). Closed Sunday evenings.
