Fontaine de Mars

Restaurant

Fontaine de Mars

129 Rue Saint-Dominique, Paris

When President Obama and the First Lady dined in Paris, they went to this classic bistro with its requisite red checkerboard tablecloths on a quiet street, not far from the Eiffel Tower. There are no surly waiters or pretensions, as you’ll soon find out when the waiter walks over with a chalkboard featuring the day’s specials. Entrees include John Dory fish topped with pesto, a flank steak grilled with shallots, salmon, and top of the beef loin. End with a large portion of vanilla creme brulee or the sublime dark chocolate mousse.
