The Goldenrod is a stone’s throw from Short Sands in York Beach, and is a must-see for families visiting the area. The Goldenrod is an awesome place for kids. It’s part restaurant, part ice cream parlor, part candy store, complete with huge taffy-stretching machine in the front window that the kids will love watching. They are famous for their saltwater taffy. Definitely pick up a box to take home for a souvenir. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a kids’ menu. The restaurant closes in the winter and reopens in June.
