Jesperson’s Restaurant and Pie Shoppe

312 Howard St., Petoskey, 49770-2414, MI

If you are out and about in the hubbub of Petoskey and spot a line out the door, it’s probably at Jesperson’s, established in 1903 and now an icon of diners in the area. (It may feel 100-plus years old on a scorching summer day, as it has no AC.)

Still run by the same family, Jesperson’s was said to be a regular haunt of Ernest Hemingway and his Petoskey friend, Dutch. They even offer a Hemingway sandwich in his honor! With fresh Great Lakes Whitefish from John Cross Fisheries delivered daily, and locally sourced fruits and berries, Jesperson’s specializes in filling homemade soups. Do save room for their signature Cherry Berry Pie, with seasonal cherries, raspberries, and strawberries.

Hours
Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Closed Monday; Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
