They probably had you at “Chocolate Kitchen,” but in case that’s not enough to lure you in the doors of Kilwin’s, the offer of free fudge ought to do the trick. With a tagline of “Sweet in every Sense since 1947,” Kilwins is nearing sixty years of crafting chocolaty confections, caramel apples, popcorns and ice cream using old fashioned machinery (Lucy and Ethel would have loved the conveyer belts). Petoskey’s Kilwin’s is the original store in a franchise that now exists all over the country. On a rainy day, grab the kids for a free half hour tour in which you will wear hairnets and shoe covers and learn all about making chocolate. Free samples at the end is the cherry on top of this chocoholic sundae.
