An all around crowd-pleaser right on the main drag of Old Harbor across from the ferry terminal, Mohegan offers surprisingly sophisticated pub fare at a good value. It’s one of the only places on-island that bridges the divide between fast-food/pizza-type spots and upscale hotel restaurants that seem to increase in price every season. In addition to perfectly cooked-to-order burgers and fish sandwiches, the menu veers into Asian and South American influences, such as hoison barbecue chicken, scallop ceviche, and a particularly tasty Argentinean ribeye steak. Ambience is crowded and casual, with children welcomed without missing a beat. Of course, grown-ups will appreciate the microbrews brewed on the premises, including a killer IPA.
