It’s worth the 20-minute drive east of Springfield for this fun place (and it’s on the way to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum). You’ll first see the great big plastic chicken out front, which is great for your family holiday card. Inside, watch for people down on the floor, which is an absolute mess. Guests are given Sharpie markers to color, to write their names or whatever. The food is wonderful southern comfort food — from fried catfish and BBQ to mac and cheese and hot dogs. Save room for the monster-size cookies and local ice cream.
