Overview

This budget hotel is perfect for families looking for a clean and comfortable stay at a reasonable price. The spacious rooms have been recently renovated to include wood floors and stylish furnishings. The standard two-queen rooms have extra space for a crib or rollaway, and also include a microwave, refrigerator, free coffee, and a refreshing outdoor pool. The Riata Inn has new owners who have made a great many positive changes to make this a family-friendly hotel.

The Riata Inn sits on the eastern edge of town, less than a mile from the downtown district. Marfa is a small, compact town, with most attractions within easy walking distance. There’s an eclectic variety of dining options that will please even the pickiest eaters. Surprisingly, some of the best eateries in town are food trucks. Your hotel is a short 7-mile drive from a great vantage point to see the mysterious Marfa Lights. Closer to your hotel, however, are the numerous art installations that make this such a unique place to visit. When you’re ready to view some natural beauty, head north to the 500-acre Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center and Botanical Gardens. There, you’ll also find hiking trails and a restored 1800s Army fort. With its affordable room rates, spacious rooms, and convenient location, the Riata Inn is a fine choice for your family vacation to Marfa.

Reviews

Very quiet on the edge of town

by Teresa R

Pleasant little mom and pop hotel. Closest to the Marfa lights. Back right up to the door, easy to unload straight in to the room. No frills but functional. Fun little church across the parking lot. Great photo op.

Clean and functional

This is you basic motor-court motel. Pergo floors, not carpeted, which is cleaner anyway. there is a 2" door threshold which makes it difficult for a wheelchair to enter but not impossible. no blankets, just a sheet and breadspread. the A.C. worked well. The ice machine was located in the lobby. The accommodations were roomy, with a dinette table and chairs, microwave oven and refrigerator. The internet worked well. No breakfast, nothing fancy just a decent room eight minutes from the mystery lights.
