Fantastic Hotel, located in middle of no where

by amyers76

Hotel was 5star all the way. Food , service , pools all beyond expectations. Cute little coffee and ice cream shop, and afternoon nibbles cart. Hotel was breathtaking, however hotel is 10 minutes off road and you may only use hotel taxis or book excursions to get to Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. Taxis cost me $100-$150 a day which was an unexpected expense. If you want to experience the local culture this hotel is not accommodating to do so, if you prefer to stay on premise this hotel has activities to keep you entertained all day. Over all our stay was lovely but can not emphasize enough how much money you will spend in Taxi service from Hotel .

Good Experience

The restaurant and pool staff was very attentive and incredibly helpful. Restaurants were very good great diversity and it was good to have gluten free options.
I know that for resorts, security is always a priority and we have stayed at Royalton resorts for 5+ years in the D.R. Jamaica, and Mexico. I had booked diving with a diving operation at another resort, as the hotel did not have a dive operation. I had scheduled a pick up with the dive operation with the name of the person who was to pick me up. The hotel staff told me that they would NOT allow them to pick me up at the lobby, the reasons varied and no real reason was explained to me, even though I had their name and dive operation. I was told that I would have to meet them at the front of the hotel which was 2-3km away from the lobby and that they could NOT get anyone from the hotel to take me to the front of the hotel. I had to take a taxi to the front of the hotel which cost me $10 USD for a 2 minute ride. I find this unacceptable and money out my pocket, so my suggestion is either have carts to drive guests to the front of the hotel or allow dive operations to come & pick up guests as they were able to pick up other guests at other resorts, no questions asked by security.
