Good all rounder

The hotel is quite well located, on a main avenue and about500 yards from the historic centre squares, cathedral, churches, restaurants, market etc.
Rooms overlooking the avenue have views to the old Inca temple but can be noisy. Clean and comfortable, friendly, good breakfast in otherwise quiet restaurant.

Good location, hotel a little tired with small rooms

We stayed here on two different nights with a Machu Picchu visit between them.
First of all we found hotel staff very friendly and they even recognised us on our return. Decor is quirky Inca style, but in a good way!
The first night we were in a standard double. Compared to other hotels around Peru, the room was substandard and the bed was tiny. Fixtures and fittings were tired and dated, for example a toilet seat hanging off the toilet.
The second night we were upgraded to a deluxe suite which was more roomier and a much larger bed. However, it was still tired and dated.
Breakfast was fine, but less choice than others we stayed at around Peru. One thing that needs to change is 8.30am checkout time. Doesn't make any sense when breakfast lasts until 10! Both times we asked for late checkout of 9.30 which the staff accepted and said the checkout time was company policy, which is strange as we stayed in another San Augustin in Urubamba and check out there was 10am....
This hotel reminds me of many I stay in in central London. You're paying for location more than the room, and location here is very good as its 5 mins from the main square.
