Made reservations on Friday for an oceanfront room, the website does not mention checknin time so arrived Saturday around 2p. Upon registering my husband is told the room was not ready and they call when it was available. Ok....no big deal, we just found other things to do thinking it would not take long. At 5:30p we arrived back at registration office with a line that seemed a mile long to only find out the room was still not ready and we weren't the only ones, quite a few ppl rooms were not ready, one lady stated she arrived at 1p and here it is 5:30 and no room.So after going back and forth with the clerk we were told they had an ocean view not the oceanfront we booked, reluctantly we took the room. I can honestly say I Would Never Ever Stay at this roach motel ever again, the room was semi clean, kept finding hair on the pillows and sheet, the fridge was rusted and needed to be cleaned and there was a line of baby roaches crawling across the floor the next morning. Stay at your own risk. We were in the Driftwood building maybe the other ones are better.
-The Wifi is the worst I have ever seen anywhere. I really felt like we were trying to get on dial-up. My kids couldn’t do anything the whole time. You can PAY for better Wifi supposedly, but what a rip-off.
-The beds are rock hard. I would’ve been better off sleeping in the floor.
-We only stayed two nights (luckily) and the first one we couldn’t get ANY sleep due to the safe in our room that beeped NON-STOP all night long. I had to call the front desk at 3am because my kids couldn’t get any sleep, so neither could I, because the constant beeping was so loud. The security officer did something to it that stopped it for 5 minutes, but I didn’t want to deal with it anymore. I called again at 830am, it took TWO HOURS to get someone up, and they ended up having a third person come up a little later and change the battery, which stopped it. We wasted our whole last morning at the beach waiting on this to get fixed so we hopefully could sleep that night.
-Kids were crying and going up and down the halls at 2am, dogs in the rooms barked all night, the walls and doors seemed paper thin.
-The balcony was TINY and had one crappy chair on it. Our family couldn’t even enjoy it.
-The hall and even our room smelled like marijuana constantly due to the other guests that were staying there.
-The elevator was rickety and scary.
-Things just looked old and dirty overall.
It wasn’t a cheap stay, and it definitely wasn’t worth what we paid. We will not be staying here on future trips to Myrtle Beach.
