If you like roaches then this is the place for you

by heidi143va

If you like filth and bugs then this is the place for you. I don’t even feel like this place deserves one star. I have stayed here a few times and this last experience was by far the worst I’ve ever encountered. I will not be returning back. I paid for an ocean view room and when we arrived we were put in a room that shared a balcony with other rooms and had no view of the ocean. When we complained they moved us to the 7th floor. The room we stayed in on the 7th floor was dirty. The housekeeper on this floor does not know how to clean. We had to buy cleaner and clean the room ourselves. There was still stuff from the people who previously stayed there in the drawers. The safe did not work in the room. We called and security had to come up and fix it as maintenance was not in. It took them forever to fix it but they did get it fixed. The second night in this room I woke up to see a bug run very fast in the bathroom. I was half asleep and could not find where it went to identify what kind of bug this was. The third night I saw a roach on the wall. At 3:30 in the morning I called and informed the front desk of the room having roaches. They did not seem surprised at all. Because I had my dog they would not move me to another building. They moved us to a room on the 6th floor. At 3:30 in the morning we are moving rooms and waking our toddler to do this. They put us in an ocean front room. We made a trip to Walmart to buy raid to spray in the room we were going to be staying in. Around 9am my husband went to guest services and requested to speak to a manager as we were still highly upset. He was told that there was no manger to speak to and basically we should have been grateful that we were upgraded to an ocean front. No apology for the inconvenience. The room on the 6th floor was clean unlike the one on the 7th floor. The safe did not work. At this point I was so irritated I didn’t even report it to be fixed. Housekeeping woke us up a few days later at 8am because we had not received any service from them. They came into the room while we were still in bed in our pajamas to use the phone in the room to tell whoever we still did not want our room to be serviced. The night before we left we went to use the laundry services to wash all of our belongings before going home to ensure we did not take any bugs home. The change machine did not work. We had to drive to surf side to a 24 hour laundry mat to wash our clothes. The pools inside were ice cold and had trash floating in them. We couldn’t even use the pools. This place has gone down hill big time and their employees do not care. So much for a relaxing vacation. I felt like I did more work than their employees did.

This place is TERRIBLE!!! My mom, daughter and I were scheduled to stay here from 10/5/19 - 10/10/19 but we only stayed at Sea Mist for 2 nights and the rest of our stay at Coral Beach. Sea Mist check in was super easy (probably the only good thing about this hotel)... We get all of our bags out of the car and make our way up to the 15th floor. First thing out of the elevator we got hit in the face with marijuana smell. Basically got high walking the halls. We get to our room & are instantly turned off because the pictures we saw online were completely deceiving from what our room looked like. The maintenance man was in our room putting back together the A/C unit which had no filter on it, even when he was done. The floor throughout was a hard light washed laminate that had several black spots from being very old & having lots of wear and tear. The stove only had 2 working cooktops, but thankfully the microwave worked. They had no basic flat baking sheet or several cooking utensils. The refrigerator light turned on about 10 seconds after digging around in the dark. The TV had an AD that ran at least 5 times a minute but the remote was so basic we couldn't turn it off. It also had a black line right down the center of the screen. The bathroom was tight, but that was alright. I could pee harder than the water pressure that came out of the shower head. The pools were freezing and had a ton of wear and tear. They also couldn't provide me with a pack n play or crib for my 8 month old daughter.
After the second night we decided to look around for a different hotel to stay at. We fell in love with Coral Beach. We packed our things and went there. It was very eye opening because while sitting on our balcony at Coral Beach we watched 2 Orkin trucks pull up and bring all their gear into a Sea Mist building. They had placed multiple mattresses upright against the glass screen doors. I can only imagine that they have BED BUGS because why else would you move things like that and have a building completely shut down?! (I will add photos of the trucks & the mattresses will be outlined in red that are against the glass doors). I will NEVER stay at SEA MIST again!!! It is so trashy and nasty!!!!
