Overview

Of all the resorts in Dominica, this might consistently get the highest marks for luxury and location. Away from the major population center of Roseau, the resort is located on a cliff top overlooking the Caribbean Sea near Portsmouth. It’s the location and view that is helping to provide this Dominican gem with incredible accolades such as being selected by Travel + Leisure as one of the best new hotels in the world.

Secret Bay has just six villas and bungalows immersed amongst the five-star experience and amenities of the resort. There is a full-time concierge, housekeeping, laundry service and security at the resort. The concierge is also apt to help plan excursions, book spa treatments, organize child-sitting and assist with just about anything you could possibly need. The resort has two beaches, the Cario River, a spectacular sea cave, and two distinct micro-climates.

Additional services at the resort include The Waitukubuli Wanderer, an all-terrain air-conditioned, 4-door, 4-wheel drive vehicle with a knowledgeable driver for day excursions, personal chef, pre stock of any kitchen, selection of organic food baskets and even a private evening, one-man jazz concert on your terrace (villas only).

There is so much more to this magical place — all complimentary with your stay. The resort hosts a welcome dinner and airport transfers for stays of five nights of more. There is Wi-Fi, a kindle for exclusive use with daily international newspapers, a small library of books, home audiovisual systems with a selection of DVDs, board games, adventure equipment; standup paddle boards, yoga mats and snorkeling and swimming gear.

Amazing place, amazing people

by Ron B

My wife and I stayed at Secret Bay to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. We stayed in the Zabuco I suite and it was luxurious. What a fabulous place and everyone at Secret Bay made our visit there special and unique, from our initial greeting with Lenita through the rest of our stay. The scuba diving was great but this is a place where you can go to just unwind and do nothing (except the take in the incredible views). We hope to be able to return some day.

Secretive luxury, every whim attended to.

Secret Bay is absolutely amazing. My wife and I celebrated our 11th anniversary and her 40th birthday with a 10 day stay in Ti-Fey II. What wasn't amazing?

Food: Incredible. Chef Grant is a culinary genius. Everything was delicious, made to order, customized just for us, and had an amazing and inventive story behind how it was produced. At one point my wife happened to mention offhand that she was in the mood for steak. The next night, Chef Grant had sourced us some excellent steak and grilled it at our room for us. Plus, he's also an expert mixologist. His inventive drinks were to die for.

Room: Perfect. View amazing from bedroom AND living room due to the 2 floor design. Everything we needed was in there, including a lovely outdoor shower, patio for eating with a view, plunge pool, TVs with various streaming services, full kitchen, very comfortable bed and linens. Just perfect.

Service: This might have been the most unique part, at least for us. We are not used to being waited on so expertly. Want lunch brought down to you at the beach with a cooler of pina coladas? Done. Want to book a last minute snorkeling excursion with Captian Don (who is fantastic as well)? You got it. Need a personal item procured? It's handled for you. We barely had to lift a finger the whole trip, except when we wanted to.

The island: Not built up as much as some other Caribbean islands we've been to, but if you're going to Dominica you're not going for the cities, you're going for the nature, and that it has in spades. Waterfalls, beautiful rain forest, Champagne reef and other snorkeling spots, beaches of all kinds, natural hot springs, and my favorite of it all, Titou Gorge, a beautiful natural gorge formed by a lava flow where a somewhat cold waters flow through. Getting used to the water temperature is well worth the swim up the gorge to see the natural beauty, then you can lay back and float back down like a lazy river. Oh, can't forget the Indian river tour with Fire, a highlight of the trip as well.

So much I'm leaving out, but I'll leave it here. An unforgettable vacation.
