A wonderful retreat for all levels of yoga :)

by piasaueve

I feel very blessed to have spent a week at Shanti Toya - I feel calm, heard, and definitely stretched out! Everyone was a solo traveller in my retreat, and most female, so don't feel daunted if you are the same! I have made long term friendships here and can't wait to meet up again in the future.

Yoga: twice daily, usually morning one is 1.5-2 hours long incl meditation, evening around 1 hour. You get a real smorgasbord of yoga types, for example laughter yoga, yin, and dynamic flow. I've practiced for 5 years and loved that I could be introduced to new styles. The shala is GORGEOUS.

Room: I stayed in the budget single room. Was perfectly adequate, with a great view. Only feedback I'd give is it would maybe be nice to have a mirror by the sink :)

Location: Nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Bali. The ashram has a special energy to it, and it often felt a little bit like heaven (the way the light trickles through the trees, or the sound of the stream). The vegan food was AMAZING. Please thank your chefs for treating us vegans well :) I think I actually gained a little weight with how much home made peanut butter I ate!! Many non-vegans there also loved the food and wanted to continue eating vegan even after the retreat ended.

Activities: I made full use of the daily activities and they were very fun. They are optional, so if you prefer to stay in and have some time to yourself by the pool or to read, that's also encouraged. Note: if you are planning to go to the healer, be prepared for all kinds of answers! He is a straight talker haha.

Thank you so much for having me - I definitely want to come back in the future. Until next time, Namaste x

The location is beautiful and the staff are supportive. The yoga classes and good and the Vegan food delicious.
The ambiance varies with the guests.
The concept and ethos of an Ashram may not be considered by some of those guests.
Guests permited to smoke on the Ashram grounds was a disappointment.
There is a challenge in some rooms with inadequate ventilation and the smell of mould which requires addressing.
Hopefully the wonderful people who provide such good care and service to all their guests may consider addressing these issues.
