Nice place, but a day trip is all that it is worth

by DubParkAllstar

We were greeted upon arrival, which was right around 1pm. We mentioned that we would like lunch and were clearly met with surprise- this hotel does not have a restaurant- or many options for food, so keep that in mind with your booking. After given a wait time of 30 minutes we went to settle into our rooms. The room was as pictured, clean and was quite nice, with a nice shower and jacuzzi tub! This is where the rest of my report turns average. I was then informed the food was all still frozen so lunch would take an hour, ok no problem, let's hop in the pool before eating. Other guests had left their drinks by the pool side and they started to collect ants. I can look past this we are in a nature place so ants come with it. After 30 minutes or so a staff member cleaned it up. After our dip the food came and it was underwhelming, cold shrimp, and raw chicken, pretty gross. When asked if we wanted dinner (thought this would be a no brainer as we are staying overnight), we were told we have a choice of chicken or beef. To save the suspense this meal was slightly better but not worth the 20 a piece. We also asked for a bottle of wine, they poured it for us, which I tasted and immediately told them it had gone bad. They only had one more half bottle and that too had passed its shelf life. So we figured ok let's take a dip in the jacuzzi by the pool (mind you I asked at 4pm if it was working because it was cold). I was told it takes an hour to heat up. So I turned it on and let it run for two hours. It was not hot, after dinner I asked again, the staffer did some checking and said he could fix it. After a while he told us to wait an hour before it would get hot. So we drank our spoiled wine and waited, you guessed it, 90 minutes later no change in temp. Our total bill for less than 24 hours was approx 350 (for really two people) This did include a massage that my wife got, she said it was nice. For the prices they charge this is a big disconnect for the service you receive, now granted we were the only people staying the night this place is just average with nice services like massages.

Incredible Hotel in a Cute Town Outside Quito

by Elizabeth C

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff and owners are so helpful and friendly! My husband and I stayed in the hotel both before and after our Galapagos cruise and it was a great place to depart from and return to. The room we had (Junior Suite) is beautifully decorated and it was the most comfortable bed we had in Ecuador. The en suite Jacuzzi tub is amazing, and you also have access to a TV room right outside your door, as well as the kitchen, gorgeous pool and dining areas.

The hotel has two adorable dogs and a sweet cat, that were fun reminders of home. The hotel arranged for airport transfers for us at a reasonable rate, and they were always prompt. The town of Cumbaya is really nice! We liked it even more than Quito. Great restaurants, shops, bakeries, and an inviting town square.

Highly recommend this hotel as an option closer to the airport (about 25 minutes) or even as a base to visit downtown Quito.
