A sad drop in standards and service

by Serena H

As returning customers to the Salobre the reduction in standards and service is obvious. The main restaurant used to over look the valley but it is now in the centre of the hotel so there is no view. The food offer, which used to be fabulous was poor to terrible. The reduction in staff means that the staff on duty are at full stretch. On the Saturday night we waited 45mins to be seated. This was due to the fact that there were no staff to clear the tables. When we were finally seated we sat amongst 10 tables covered in dirty plates, glasses and empty bottles of beer and wine. Sunday was not much different. We tried to have pre-dinner drinks in the bar overlooking the golf course we were given a menu but after a 20min wait when no one appeared we gave up and went through to supper. The bedrooms are tired and the towels certainly worn. We arrived at 9.30pm with three cases and two golf bags - no one met us at the door to assist. We paid full board but ended up paying for lunch as the only decent area to get service and good food and a view was on the roof with the adult pool. The staff were fantastic and the lunch offer good but it meant we have paid twice for lunch and the prices at the Salobre are not cheap! Would I go back - yes for the golf which we loved but for the hotel absolutely not. We did complain whilst there but I did not want to spoil any more of our holiday chasing the GM who should have been making considerable efforts to find me!

Amazing!

On my first vacation all by myself I picked out this place, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice. Beautiful pools, SPA area with pool (extra cost) and very good food, especially the breakfast. Nice classes every day with yoga or pilates. Next time I will bring my family and kids.
