Going downhill fast and probably won't be back.

by Florida_waterskier

I have been staying at the Sheraton Miami for over six years. Because it is a convenient location to the Miami Airport rental car return/pick up because it is right across the street. The shuttle service is safe and dependable. This last time was not a great experience overall with some surprises. On past departure stays the valet/luggage team also kept one piece of luggage for when I returned on arrival a week later for a small fee. Now the hotel has a new policy and won't let guests store one piece of luggage. They can clearing see that I am coming back with the return reservation. The service went way downhill at the front desk. The managers were great however some team members were horrible. On our return stay after one week. I was traveling with someone with a wheel chair and the front desk team member assigned a room 36 rooms from the elevator at the end of the hall. It was so late at night that we didn't have the energy to ask for another room. She clearly saw the wheel chair however used bad judgment. At check in I also asked the team member if I could pay to upgrade to use the club for breakfast in the morning. She picked up the phone made a call however nobody answered. She than stated she didn't know the cost was and couldn't process the request. The air conditioning in the room didn’t work very well. Woke up in the middle of the night and it was very hot in the room. Because of the staff lack of good judgement, air conditioning quality, and valet/luggage team no longer allowed to store one piece of luggage for a fee - I will probably not be using Sheraton Miami Airport on our next trip out.

Aging, Lacks Customer Service

Here for a conference. The property is (obviously) very close to the airport— enticingly, you can see the airport parking structure from the hotel and an airport tram runs on elevated tracks at the front of the property, but you still have to take a shuttle bus to and from the hotel. There is nothing at all within walking distance. You’ll be Ubering or cabbing anywhere you need to go, unless you rent a car. The hotel itself is aging, and the rooms are less than clean.

As my photo shows, my room’s carpet was stained. A loud and unpredictable HVAC unit in the room noisily announces its presence every 30 minutes. Unlike some systems, where the fan can bet set to run continuously to provide pleasant white noise, this system takes joy in waking you up twice an hour. A request to the front desk for a mini fridge was met with a report that none were available.

Food options are two pricey restaurants, one of which refused to let my colleague and I sit at the outdoor tables for lunch. No vegan options at all. A bottle of Diet Pepsi from the overpriced convenience store will reduce your retirement fund by five dollars.

The one saving grace: A surprisingly nice workout room.

If you have any say in the matter, stay somewhere else.
