If you come to Silver Dollar City in Branson, and you think you are bringing your children to a family-friendly theme park filled with fun rides and activities, you would be correct. The park includes more than 30 rides and attractions where you can get wet, spin in circles, hang upside down and scream with delight. The kids are going to love it and love you for bringing them here.

But Silver Dollar City is so much more than your typical theme part. The savvy parent will appreciate this and take advantage of all that distinguishes Silver Dollar City from every other theme park out there, providing their children an educational and truly memorable vacation getaway.

Silver Dollar City began as a show cave. Missouri is known as the Cave State, by the way, and Marvel Cave was one of those caves people came to see. It became so popular that the Herschend family, the owners of Silver Dollar City, hired a couple of local craft artisans to demonstrate their talents to people waiting in line to tour the cave.

And that's how it began, with a cave and talented craft artisans. Marvel Cave is still here and so are the craft artisans. They are so good that the U.S. Congress has declared this the Home of American Craftsmanship. Not only are they talented potters, glass blowers and wood workers, these artisans are talkative and engaging. Kids become mesmerized as a beautiful vase rises from a blob of clay spinning on a wheel.

The rest of Silver Dollar City is thoughtfully created to bring a bit of the Ozark culture and history to life in an entertaining environment. Kids can dip a candle or watch as their favorite candy is made before them. They can help churn ice cream or weave a basket, then follow it with a ride on the roller coaster or a trip across the swinging bridge.

Although there are plenty of water-based rides inside Silver Dollar City, the park also operates nearby White Water, a 13-acre water park. There are another dozen rides here along with 7,000 feet of slides, wave pools, tipping buckets and all of the accoutrements of a good water park.

If your family enjoys the live entertainment for which Branson is known, add a cruise on the Showboat Branson Belle, another attraction owned by Silver Dollar City. The Belle is a traditional paddle-wheel boat that cruises Table Rock Lake about three times a day, serving up good food and spectacular entertainment.

Packages are available to provide the best prices for your family to enjoy all three attractions in the beautiful southern Missouri Ozarks.
