Tacky

by Patrick F

Over the years, the contractors who run the lodge have cheapened it. The furnishings are tacky and prices have gone too high. In addition, there are annoying shortfalls (in room 11, a “premium” room) like a slow draining sink and WiFi so slow in the only place with a connection at all, that you cannot use your browser at all and forget uploading pictures. There are minor annoyances as well (e.g., the coffee service, dim bedside lights). For this I paid close to $300 for one night’s stay? (I never received the email receipt I was promised.)

The rooms are clean (except for the fungi in the shower & the non-functional bathroom heater), the views still world class (except in the cabins), food in the dining room is still good, but they have their other priorities wrong: E.g., who needs an iron & ironing board or a big flat screen TV, of all things, in a place like this?

Skyland Resort was amazing! The staff, grounds, room, & dining options were wonderful. Our room was comfortable, clean, & with a beautiful view. The bathroom was clean, updated, great shower & water pressure. Quiet restful night & lots of hiking options during the day. The staff was very professional, knowledgeable, & helpful. Dinner was beautifully presented, delicious, & our waitress, Zuki, was delightful & very efficient! Dessert was incredible. Breakfast options included buffet or a la carte. Again, a delicious meal. Everything exceeded our expectations.
