Reviews

Decent hotel

by Bfmcm

Spent one night here. The staff were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about Jacksonville. Angie the receptionist gave us a good recommendation for our night out. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was a good size. Breakfast was fine and there was a good selection. The only down side was the smell in our room, a bit musty/ damp. We opened the window which helped greatly. The room our friends had was fine. Worth trying.

Very Good, But....the Price and Location?

I selected this property ahead of time as we needed to spend one night in Jacksonville for a seminar. While the $99 price tag was lower than some properties within 10 miles of the Jacksonville Ice and Sports Complex, this is not a $100 hotel. There were lower priced and higher priced properties with terrible reviews, so this one felt like one to take a chance on. The hotel itself was clean and bright with interior halls. The staff, both at check in and checkout was very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was clean and comfortable. However, this place didn’t feel any different than many of the Quality Inns we’ve stayed at that were under $70. The property is in an area that feels borderline unsafe. Yes, there are several restaurants within walking distance, but I wouldn’t walk to them after dark. The property description states restaurants and shopping within walking distance but we didn’t see any place to shop. Walls are thin and we heard our neighbors all evening. Had to call the front desk and complain. Breakfast was the standard free Choice array. Microwaved eggs and lots of carb heavy options. Choice hotels like to sneak in a $1 or $2 safe charge on your bill. If you do not use the safe and say something at checkout they will credit you back. This is a sneaky corporate policy that is not the property’s fault. In summary, nothing wrong with the hotel at all, it’s the location and price that felt wrong.
