Very pleasant overnight stay

by Saber9

We were there for just one night and arrived well after dark. We came into Abilene from the south and being very familiar with Abilene thought nothing about it, but we had minor difficulty finding this hotel. We just got on I 20 and took the proper exit and it was easy to see and find then. The front desk people were very pleasant and helpful, our room was clean and well maintained, the bed was comfortable, wi-fi was good and the breakfast was exceptionally good. We will readily stay in this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Abilene.

Outdated and rough service.

My wife and I were visiting for homecoming weekend and we had booked the hotel for Friday and Saturday night. When we checked in we had apparently been given a smoking room. It was very clear as the smell of cigarettes was very deeply in the carpet. For me it was not an issue but my wife with asthma could not handle it well at all. The sign outside of our door said it was a no smoking room so we went to the front desk and asked and were told that all rooms have that sign but it didn’t apply for our room. We asked if there were any rooms we could switch to and for that night there wasn’t one but they said we could switch to a new room the next time. We agreed to that. We tried to do that then and the person at the front desk said it would be too hard to cancel the rooms for the weekend and then re-book up for the room we were in for Friday and then a new room for Saturday and that it would tie up too much money for us, but we weren’t opposed to that we just wanted to make sure our Saturday night room would be smoke free. Against there was pushback from the front desk so we let it go. Next morning my wife went for breakfast and wanted to check to make sure that was good. She was informed that when the manager got in we could make that switch. Come 9:30 we are heading out of the hotel we check again to see what the status was and the manager denied the request and said whoever said we could switch was wrong and didn’t have the right to say that. They claimed they were fully booked and couldn’t make any switches despite the fact that their website showed they had multiple rooms available, all of which showed they were non-smoking. We immediately checked out and had a new room booked at the Best Western across the street who was MUCH more accommodating. Along with the lies we were told, the rooms themselves were in bad shape. Will not even consider this hotel again.
