Overview

A classic beach motel with a fantastic history, the Soundview Inn got its start as a beachside concession stand back in the 1930s when it was known as Jack’s Shack.

Located right on the Long Island Sound in the historic North Fork village of Greenport, the Soundview Inn offers everything from standard and deluxe hotel rooms to studio efficiencies and spacious suites, many with either shared or private terraces that overlook the hotel’s quarter-mile of sandy shore. A complimentary continental breakfast is included.

The Soundview Inn is positively packed with onsite amenities and guests will enjoy tennis, basketball, and bocce, grilling on the outdoor barbecue grills, and relaxing by the pool. Complimentary beach towels are available to take to the beach, just steps from the hotel. Take a ride into the quaint town of Greenport or spend the day touring the beautiful North Fork. When you return, drink in the sunset over the sound with dinner on the deck of the hotel’s well-loved restaurant.

This hotel is so lovely, the rooms are clean and decorated nicely. The beds are so comfy and the view is amazing. The food in the restaurant is DELICIOUS. The free breakfast is great, yummy coffee and the staff were so lovely.

Lovely

My family and two young children stayed at this motel. The motel is very clean and tastefully updated in a simplistic retro style. The motel’s location is unique, literally hanging over the sound, and the views are unbeatable. Listening to the waves roll in all night was so relaxing. The continental breakfast had only cold offerings, but was nonetheless delicious and satisfying. And of course... you can’t beat the view. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is about 5-10 minute drive to downtown Greenport and various wineries and restaurants.

The only negatives are the sound of the cars from the road and the window shades in the room. I had read reviews saying that the shades were too thin and made sleeping difficult, but I didn’t pay the reviews much mind. Let me tell you that the struggle is real! You have street lights coming in one window and deck lights ( which go off sometime in the night) on the other side. We ended up putting a blanket over the window to block some light. The other small negative is the sound of the cars on the highway. They are close and loud, but after a while we got used to it. Overall, the positives FAR outweigh the negatives. The whole family loved the hotel and we hope to be back.
