Located in Ashcroft, British Columbia — a 4.5-hour trek outside of Vancouver — the Sundance Guest Ranch is an excellent destination for families who want to let go for a while. Whether you’re there for a couple days or a couple weeks, there’s something about the tranquil beauty of the ranch that keeps families coming back.
The property includes 19 Standard rooms, each equipped with one queen and one full bed. There are three larger King rooms available for a small fee, which instead come equipped with a king bed and a few added amenities. And for the kids, there’s The Bunkhouse kids’ wing, complete with private boys and girls bathrooms in the hall. But children can, of course, stay with their parents. All rooms are air conditioned.
This ranch operates with adults and children in mind. While everyone enjoys the miles upon miles of explorable trails and a seasonal 800-square-foot heated pool, kids get a kick out of the games room, street hockey court and movie lounge (complete with a 60-inch wide-screen satellite TV). Parents also appreciate the supervised children’s program in the summer months.
Adults may enjoy relaxing quiet time in the BYOB adults-only lounge. There is an onsite family dining room where guests are served breakfast, lunch and dinner. Vegetarian options are available, and accommodations can be made for special diets.
It’s safe to say the best way to enjoy the property’s thousands of acres of excellent scenery and terrain is on horseback, on either of the ranch’s two daily rides. Since each ride lasts over two hours, there’s plenty of time to take in all the amazing sites and sounds while enjoying some of Canada’s finest land and most ideal weather. Though advanced, intermediate and novice riders are typically kept separate, flexibility is given to families who want to share the experience together.

My husband & I booked two nights at Sundance just after the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend! I can’t say enough about this ranch! The management is friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They care deeply for the safety and well being of the horses, riders and guests alike.
Our Buffalo King size room was lovely and with a small upgrade cost to secure this wonderful room, it’s worth it! There are two large windows in the unit that look out to the huge pasture where the horses graze at the end of their days until the next morning! It’s a perfect vantage point to watch both the “Jingle in” and “Jingle” out if you chose to watch from the comfort of your room.
The meals are excellent and on this particular week of the season, with so few guests between the two very busy weekends, the meals are almost made to order!
The 2 1/2 rides are fantastic! The horses are well cared for, responsive and eager to run! The wranglers?! Incredible! They are super friendly, fun-loving, great conversationalists and offer up some good Aussie or British humour as many of them come to Sundance on working visas! They totally support the philosophy of the owners-give the guests the best experience that can be served up! Thank you Laura, Sam, Georgie & Tegan for my great rides!
I look forward to next season when I will return for my fifth year! Thank you Cynthia, Taylor, Boomer, Dozer, Shannon, the wranglers (some who are returning for another year and to those who have moved on) and all the other staff members who add to the magic of this ranch!
What a great getaway!

Went with my best friend on cowgirls weekend and we had the time of our lives. We met new friend and just enjoyed ourselves immensely. Road horses for hours on many trails. The best views you will ever see. Once you ride on there trails you’ll never want to go anywhere else.
