Love The Surrounding Nature!

by jackytansg

This beautiful riverside homestay, Terra Nostra is located in the UNESCO world heritage site of Ollantaytambo. This peaceful place is surrounded by captivating mountains, lush forest, the Urubamba River and also the ancient Inca fortress of Ollanyamtambo. Wake up in the morning to see the mountains and hear the peaceful songs of the river streams. Highly recommended! Ollantaytambo is also a great place to stay if you wish to visit Machu Pichhu.

Lovely hotel, but rooms very basic

by Chris00888

The hotel was very lovely and situated next to a stream with views of the mountains. It was only a few minutes walk from all the main sights, and about 15 mins walk from the train station.

The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast was very nice, with eggs made to order. They even provided a packed breakfast for days where we could not have breakfast as we had to leave the hotel before breakfast was served.

The negative was that the rooms were all very basic, and there was a small opening in the bathroom (probably intended for ventilation) and this made the room very noisy as all the sounds from the outside came straight into the room.

The standard rooms also faced a communal sitting area (which was implied to be part of the rooms in the hotel description), and this meant all the noise from this area also came into the rooms - so the rooms was extremely noisy at all hours of the night.

The most negative experience we had was that on our final night, there was a rat (of some sort) in the bedroom and woke us up when we heard it moving around the food we left on the table. We saw it run out of the room when we turned the lights on, but it meant that the rest of the night we were on constant alert for any reappearances.

However the hotel itself is nice, and we have told the staff about the rat sighting in our room.
