Great location, very comfortable hotel, amazing service

by Sam_GiTri

I’ve been using this hotel for several nights stay. High quality, great service , the staff is professional and very kind. The room is big and clean so the bathroom. The restaurant is on the 7th floor: the breakfast is rich and very fresh ( prices from 15 to 30 dollars ) you can even skip lunch and go directly to supper thanks to big quantities ! The location is near by the shopping zone of Plaza and 15 minutes walk from the Nelson-Atkins Museum. At plaza you can find many restaurants for supper or lunch if you don’t feel like eating at the hotel restaurant. My compliments to the General Manager Maurizio who manages the Fontaine in the best European mood!
Two details that need to be ameliorate: conditioner and slippers shall be part of the set offered to customers.

Poor service, rooms aging

by Brian S

We've stayed there for the past few years when visiting family. Same person at the front desk. Nice service, nice suite. Good value.

This year no suite available, new people assisting (or not). We were given a very small room off the elevator with no dresser (family of 3 staying for 4 days). The night stand was broken, plugs not working etc.

Not the end of the world but when we confirmed no suites would open up after the first night we decided to move hotels.

They charged us for the room we'd been in for roughly an hour (while seeking assistance to fix the furniture) and with a snotty attitude claimed that as a matter of policy they had to charge us.

We moved to the Intercontinental and for not much more were able to get a significantly better room and the service was very professional.

Such a shame. Customer service is hard (I do it for a living). A few missteps turned us from repeat customers to someone taking the time to write a negative review and unwilling to return.
