The Thompson House is a good hotel choice for families who plan to ski at Windham Mountain in the Catskills of New York. Many rooms sleep up to four, and most have mini-fridges. Rates include breakfast and dinner for a nearly all-inclusive experience. Other perks include a game room, fitness center and golf course nearby, plus free Wi-Fi.

This hotel was recommended to us by a friend. We had never been in the area before and were unsure where to stay. This friend has visited the past ten years with her family and gave glowing recommendations.
While the furnishings were a bit dated, everything was meticulously cared for and cleaned to perfection. Everywhere we visited on site was better cared for than many major fancy hotels we've visited. The room was very comfortable and while we were there off-season, they made sure that all the outdoor activities were available beyond the pool. The staff was very friendly. While the continental breakfast was standard fare, the fruit and bagles were all fresh and ripe. Nothing was on the verge of going bad as we have experienced in other places and there was plenty of all add ons you might want.
The Thompson House was easy to find and centrally located among many hiking destinations and popular places to eat in the area.
We could see how nice it would be to visit during the summer. They truly made you feel welcome and the property was kept very well and pleasant. Definitely gave a welcome atmosphere.
The only recommendation I have is from me being more of a suburb/city mindset. There was no deadbolt on the room door and there was no lock on the bathroom window even though we were on the first floor. I am told this is common in the area from other visitors. I did not feel the place was unsafe, but again, being of that mindset, next time I might bring a portable extra hotel door lock for my own peace of mind.

I love staying at The Pines. It feels like I'm back in the 19th century, but with air conditioning, heat, cable TV and WIFI. Meals in the elegantly appointed dining room are delightful. The staff is so warm and friendly, it is like seeing old friends every year.
