Overview

Opened in 1947, The Tidewater Inn has hosted Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, The Kennedys, and other legends. And, with a history that actually dates back to 1712 — when it was a courthouse moved from Oxford, Maryland — it has earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places. It has also earned a haunted reputation, with reported sightings of Arther Grymes, the hotel’s former owner.

While the Tidewater Inn’s warm ambiance and luxury seems to speak to couples most, families are still welcomed with modern rooms with double beds, an onsite restaurant with casual fare, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Reviews

Great stay.

by Brian6080

Yes, it's old. The bathrooms are small, the floors creak a little, and the doors may not always shut completely but that's the charm of the Tidewater! The person at the front desk was very friendly when we checked in. Our room was hot and there was only 2 towels in the bathroom for 3 people in our party. 1 call to the front desk and within minutes we had extra towels and a box fan for our room. The attendant stated that since the changing seasons, they had already converted over to heating mode. We opened a window and turned on the fan and slept like babies! Beds were very comfortable. Can't comment on the restaurant since we didn't eat there. Will stay at the Tidewater next time we're in the Easton area.

Nice if you stay away from the traffic

Built in late 1940s, the Tidewater has great charm. The room was very nice and the bed comfortable. It was the change of season and i couldn't get the heat to warm the room, seemed like only AC would run despite what the termostat said. I had a room facing the front and a delivery truck showed up at the entrance at 2:30 AM with a motor that sounded like a motorcycle. It idled there for 15 minutes before leaving. That's just dumb. The front desk comped my breakfast in the morning to make up for the lost sleep. I was initially suspicious of noise because the room came with two pairs of earplugs! If you stay, get a room on the rear.
