Horrible stay 9/16/16

by DavidM3107

Stayed at this hotel with my mother and siblings after driving late into the night. This hotel is in rough shape. It smelled awful, cigarettes and mildew. We saw multiple cockroaches. The carpet was dirty and was pulling up from the floor. Outdoor carpet was ripped and chewed. Paint was peeling from the banisters. My sister had bites on her ankles in the am. "Cold" water was luke-warm and tasted metallic. Mattresses felt like sleeping on a spring covered sheet. $55 to stay and I should have requested a refund. I stay at several hotels through my job and this hotel is in pretty bad condition. Should have kept it as a Howard-Johnson so that a better condition is required by the franchise. No Internet. No continental breakfast. No TV remote. Outdated, box tv. Service was the only GOOD thing about our experience. Guy behind the counter was nice.

Reasonable value for the price paid, not fancy or polished

I stayed here because I was exhausted from hours of driving and this was the first place I found. For the price paid, it was a reasonable place though I would call them a low-average property. The furniture appears to be a mix of second hand items from other hotels and the bed was not luxurious but good enough to sleep on without discomfort. They had electronic door locks (also appeared to be recycled) that worked well. The room was clean but not spotless.... needed some TLC overall. Plentiful hot water with good water pressure. I moved a table away from the AC and it was able to chill the room down comfortably after an hour when the temps outside were really high. The guy who checked me in was very friendly, made me feel comfortable when I was unsure about the quality of the property. Overall I was OK with what I paid to stay somewhere when I just really needed to sleep without concern for the quality of the hotel surroundings. Its possible this is a new endeavor for this family and they are improving things as they go along. I wish them well.
