Pool
Located on the ground floor of the hotel adjacent to the parking garage, the heated infinity swimming pool overlooks the beach and Gulf of Mexico across the street. It measures between 3 and 5 feet deep, and no lifeguard is on duty. Children 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. There are some tables and chairs, as well as lounge chairs placed around the pool deck. Also, you'll find some tables and chairs located inside the parking garage adjacent to the pool deck. (Smoking is permitted at these tables).

Beach
Guests staying at the Wingate by Wyndham Gulfport will need to cross busy U.S. Highway 90 to reach the beach. However, there is a traffic light with a crosswalk right at the corner of the hotel parking lot. Because the hotel is the only hotel in the area right now, the beach is not crowded by other hotel guests, although it is open to the public.

Breakfast in the Lobby
Just across from the front desk, guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast each day from 6 to 9 a.m. Selections include a beverage station with coffee, hot chocolate, hot tea, bottled water, milk, and juice; breads and pastries, including a toaster for bread and bagels; oatmeal; waffle irons and batter; scrambled eggs; breakfast meats; fresh fruit; and cereals. In the seating area, there are many tables and chairs available.

Snacks
In the lobby, you'll find several coolers filled with sodas, juices, bottled water, ice cream treats, and microwaveable meals, all of which may be purchased at the front desk. Vending machines also are available throughout the property.

Because this hotel is located across the street from the beach, it is very popular during warm weather months, as well as spring break. Therefore, expect higher rates and reduced availability during this time. To ensure a room during these timeframes, book as soon as possible for the best selection. After school resumes in the fall and during the cooler months, you'll find lower rates and increased availability.

The hotel offers a number of discounts including government, AAA, AARP and senior discounts. Members of the hotel's Wyndham Rewards program also can earn free nights with their rewards points. In addition, all children up to age 17 stay free with paying adult.

Getting There
The Wingate by Wyndham Gulfport is 14 minutes from Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. The hotel does provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, but guests must book their transfer 24 hours prior to arrival. They also can arrange shuttle service for groups, but, again, it must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Getting Around
Although the Wingate by Wyndham Gulfport does not provide free shuttle service, the Island View Casino does provide free shuttle service for hotel guests going to and from the casino. Otherwise, a rental car is the best option for exploring Gulfport because all dining, shopping and attractions are at least a five-minute drive from the hotel.

For Mom and Dad
When the parents can escape for some alone time, take the free shuttle to the Island View Casino and try their luck at the tables or slot machines. For a quiet dinner for two, head to nearby Half-Shell Oyster House, and share a plate of chargrilled oysters. Or, if you prefer, walk across the highway and enjoy a moonlit walk along the beach.
