Select from the inn’s 53 suites, complete with living/dining areas and kitchens, or two family cottages, as well as one of the Mattakesett Properties’ 80 private homes and townhomes rentals.

Opened in 2000, the inn is the newest member of the Mattakesett area and takes its name from the island’s native Wampanoag tribe’s tongue: “winnetu,” meaning “beautiful.” Mattakesett Properties was developed in 1968 by Stanley and Mary Ann Snider, with Winnetu Inn developed by their son Mark, and his wife Gwenn, and the entire Snider family instilling a sense of family at the traditional New England seaside resort. The inn and homes are spread out over 40 acres and is the only resort located along the 21-mile South Beach, a quiet portion of Martha’s Vineyard southeast corner.

The resort features two heated, outdoor swimming pools, day and evening supervised programs for children, tennis, island tours and adventures, and family BBQs and clambakes. A library and board game pavilion also provides activities in the event a rainy day keeps your family off the beach, located just 250 yards away through a dune brush trail.

Reviews

Really great venue

by fmartin1

We stayed at this resort for 4 nights. Check in was a breeze and very pleasant. Suite was really great. Very comfortable bed. Adequate mini kitchen. Bath and a half was a real plus. NIve LR with big screen TV. Books available to read. Nice view of the large back yard and could see the ocean. Looked like lots to do if you're there in the summer. Nice pool and hot tub. Tennis courts, etc.
Continental breakfast was first class. Unfortunately nothing hot. You could get an egg sandwhich for $9. Evening dining was pleasant with goof food, but limited menu. Best of all was you pay for 3 nites and got 4th nite free!!!!!!

Beautiful and relaxing

by elizabeth g

Everything was beautiful. The staff helpful and friendly. Good parking. I saw 2 deer first thing in the morning in the field out my sliding doors. Stunning! The only thing I would change are the lights. They are all cool bulbs and too bright. Warm up those lights in the room. We will definitely be back!
