I will start with the backstory to bring you readers on the same page with me. I and my fiancé owns a company in Seattle. It is about 6.5 hours drive from Bend. We work with customers daily and we understand all issues of customer service. That’s why we never leave bad reviews publicly and prefer to write to a manager or owner directly. We are also not picky customers who will complain with no reason, so we don’t like to complain at all. However, right now I want to leave the worst public review that I ever wrote and read.
We decided to stay in the Seventh Mountain Resort because last year we stayed in Tetherow and we really loved it, but for this year Tetherow was fully booked. Seventh Mountain looks okay on pictures with a good amount of amusements like trails, horses, golf course, whatever. 6.5 hours drive and we are here... Right after we got our keys and dreamed about full 4 days of relaxation we had to listen to 20 minutes sales pitch about everything, but especially about rafting from the person who never tried rafting by herself but STRONGLY recommends to buy tickets right now after my 6 hours drive. We were so tired and wanted to sleep so much.Just drop a folder with all ads in the room and we will check it by ourselves like in any other lodge, don’t waste our vacation time.
Then we have to find our room in building 17. Why did she tell us about rafting so much, but didn’t mention that the building messed with rooms numbers and room 1724 was randomly located on the floor not even close to 1723 or 1725? 10 more minutes to figure it out and we find our room.
The room was okay. We got 2 queen sizes beds (one of them was dropping from the wall) when we need only one, no sofa at all and TV on the side from the main bed (impossible to watch it from that angle). That was weird, but I would never write this review if we are just talking about the conditions and quality of the lodge. At 200$ per night, it is still cheaper than any other lodge in Bend. Also, I will not complain about thousands of giant (half of your palm) moths flying all over the lodge, since that was a season of moths and they cover everything like in a horror movie but read on to what happened next.
That was a door that split our room from the next room. And it was thin, super thin. This review is about it.
At 8 pm we got one call from the reception, we skipped it. In 20 minutes we got the second one and concierge invited us to her next sales pitch for the tomorrow morning. At 9 pm I got the call from one of my employee and we got an emergency in our office in Seattle. That morning I have to leave my fiancé to drive 6.5 hours back in Seattle to help the team and then come back to Bend. I can do that in spite of giant moths that hit our window during the night, but I was woken up by 8 am call from reception with a reminder of a sales pitch for 11 am. I was tired and angry.
I left my fiancé and came back to Seattle. At night I got a call from her...She got a neighbor in the next room and he was terrible. He screamed and stomped the floor, speaking by himself, dropped furniture and move it around, watch TV extremely loud at 3 am. She didn’t sleep until 3 am.
It took a day to handle everything in business. I wasn’t able to drive back that day, I was so tired and I need sleep at least 5 hrs to drive safely. And that night is a reason why I write and publish that review.
Tonight at 1 am I got another call from my fiancé. She was crying because it was super scary in her room because the neighbor became crazy, she felt unsafe and I couldn't help her. But I heard how loud that guy was over the phone. She runs out of her number to reception and tried to switch the room. But the night receptions told her that they don't have any other rooms at the moment and offer the security guy to check the other guest room and ask him to be quite. There is no way how that can help my fiancé and make her feel safe when it is an only thin door from that neighbor to her. She was afraid that the neighbor will come to her if she asked the security to check up on him.
She decided to spent her night close to the fire pit outside and wait until I would be able to pick her up. Read it again. I spent $800 to know that my love will be outside her room during the night because they can’t switch her room or even offer drive her to the next lodge (there is no Uber in Bend at 1 am and I took our car) in couple miles.
Thank you to the security man who found her there and understood that the whole situation is plain horrible. After that, he checked HER room he found that door between rooms doesn’t lock at all...That was a mess in the neighbor room. After that, the security guy and night receptionist easily found another room and moved my fiancé there.
Today I slept 3 hours because I was on the phone with her at night and right now I’m driving back to Bend to pick her up as soon as I can. We already booked another lodge for the last day.
Thank you so much Seventh Mountain resort we will never forget that amazing relaxation vacation and the wonderful NIGHT RAFTING!
The warmer months offer lots of outdoor activities for families at Seventh Mountain Resort. Several mountain biking (bike rentals available onsite) and hiking trails surround the property. Horseback riding is offered at an additional cost and guests can enjoy checking out the horses at the onsite stable from about May through October. A disc golf and mini-golf course can be found on the property, along with an outdoor playground/climbing area and cornhole. Sand volleyball, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts are available to use. Additionally, rafting, paddle boarding, kayaking and fly-fishing tours on the famous Dechutes River can be arranged as well.
In the colder months (about mid-November to March), the basketball court that is situated in the center of the resort becomes the centerpiece of a winter wonderland when it transforms into a beautiful ice skating rink. Lights fill the trees and surround the outdoor rink; guests will love the atmosphere of the rink just as much as the skating. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and dog sledding can be arranged through the hotel.
Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing opportunities are less than 10 minutes away at Mount Bachelor. Seventh Mountain Resort is the closest resort to the ski mountain and offers a shuttle bus to the mountain. Discounted lift tickets can also be purchased at the resort.
The Adventure Center, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., triples as a small grocery market, souvenir and equipment shop and is the home base for the kids' program. The kids' program varies each season, but usually offers things like arts and crafts and other daily games and activities in the summer months. This is also where guests can schedule off-site tours like rafting, kayaking or snowshoeing.
There are two outdoor heated pools (one saltwater, one chlorine) open year-round, and three outdoor hot tubs. A small kiddie pool, with a depth of 1 to 2 feet, can also be found outside as well. Numerous lounge chairs and umbrellas surround this large resort-style patio/pool area, where there are also fire pits to enjoy in the evenings. Movies are shown in the pool area at night in the summer months.
The Pool House is situated a few steps away from the water and guests will find restrooms, lockers and a dry sauna. The pools are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (11 p.m. in the summer) and pool towels are provided. Pool service for drinks and food is also available in the summer months.
This onsite restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in the summer months and is situated only steps away from the pools. In the winter months, Rimrock is only open on weekends.
