What happened to room service???

by AcademicRoadWarrior

I travel to Philadelphia for business several times a year, and I always stay at the Renaissance. I’ve seen the hotel undergo many changes since 2017, and after a bumpy transition to the new hotel theme I thought things had smoothed our. Then I discovered that they had retooled their “room service” to a glorified takeout delivery. If you’re looking for an indulgence to start your busy day off right, this isn’t it. They’ve done away with traditional carts or trays and china service with silverware and replaced it with the takeout service below. You’re better off going to La Colombe or Talula’s Daily in the neighborhood for quality food, or if you really need something delivered to your room, use GrubHub or a similar app. This is not the hotel room service you’re expecting.

Perfect Location and Great Hotel

I can´t imagine staying at any other hotel to visit all the historic sites and museums. The Renaissance was easily within walking distance of the places we visited for two full days--Independence Hall, National Constitution Center, Museum of the American Revolution, the Museum of Jewish History, and even Ben Franklinś Museum. And it´s a clean, modern, spacious hotel with helpful friendly staff. As a Marriott Gold member I received my upgrade which doesn't happen all the time. I liked the tasteful room furnishings with plenty of space. The bathroom was large and the shower great. No water problem And the HVAC worked just fine. Best of all was the large, large screen TV that worked! Only minor issue was the breakfast buffet. It was $18 and there weren't that many choices. Try a local place instead. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.
